Launching Your Career As A Playwright

This workshop will discuss the tools needed to get your plays read and considered for both production and development. Playwright and Tisch alumna, Heather MacDonald will offer personal insights and successful approaches to starting your career. You will learn about the variety and value of development resources including festivals, readings, workshops, grants, residencies, and self-producing. You will also identify new and existing relationships that can assist in launching your career. We will look at sample submission packages and discuss how to effectively communicate with agents, theaters, and other contacts. You will leave the workshop ready to assemble and submit your own package to targeted opportunities. Heather MacDonald is a 2004 NYFA Playwriting Fellow and her plays include: "Pink", "Retrospective", and "Doughboy". Her latest play "Expats", will be read at NYU's hotINK festival January 22nd, 2006. She is currently working on a commission from the Hangar Theater.  Presented by the Office of Career Development at the Tisch School of the Arts.
