This workshop will focus on the legal issues associated with independent film production, from acquiring option rights to distribution. Tisch Alumna Stephanie Furgang Adwar is a founding partner of Furgang & Adwar, L.L.P, concentrating her practice in entertainment, trademark, copyright, and unfair competition law. Ms. Adwar began her career in entertainment by working for The Gersh Agency, N.Y., Inc., for DeLaurentiis Entertainment, and for CBS/Fox Video in New York. She went on to produce music videos for such acts as De La Soul, Chill Rob G, and Savatage. Ms. Adwar has lectured on entertainment law, copyright law, and trademark law to graduating students at Tisch, and for the American Law Institute - American Bar Association (ALI-ABA), the Learning Annex, and the92nd Street Y. She is a member of the prestigious New York Women in Film & Television and the American Film Institute. Ms. Adwar currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Colleagues Theatre Company, a not-for-profit theater group located inNew York City.
