A group of students and alumnae from Tisch's Kanbar Institute of Film & Television have joined together to create the first student film festival celebrating female filmmakers. Entitled Fusion: A Celebration of Female Filmmakers, the film festival will highlight the excellence of women filmmakers at NYU and in the industry at large by focusing on female directors and cinematographers.
The Fusion Film Festival is supported by the Kanbar Institutre of Film & Television. Sponsers are the New York Women in Film & Television, Kodak and Maurice Kanbar.
Fusion co-founders are Tisch School senior Gina Abatemarco ('04) and undergraduate alumna Emma Heald ('03). Their goal for Fusion is to both inspire a new generation of female directors and cinematographers as well as encourage respectful and supportive collaboration between the sexes at the School.
Fusion's inaugral festival will open March 4 and run through March 6, 2004.
