We receive many queries from individuals requesting collaborators for projects with little or no salary available. We usually resist posting these opportunities because it has always been our belief that everyone should be compensated for their talent.
We do, however, see the benefits of Tisch alumni working for other Tisch alumni, even unpaid, for a limited time only. We understand the hardships of the emerging filmmaker, theater producer, image maker, actor or other Tisch artist and the costs involved in getting a project or initiative off the ground. Our office will list what we're calling "Now for Later" opportunities.
We hope that some of these working relationships established now will pay off weeks, months or years down the road -- whereby, whenever paid opportunities arise or jobs come up, you will think of hiring or notifying each other, your Tisch colleagues. When you have an opportunity, as we've just described send it to the Office of Career Development at tisch.career@nyu.edu with "Now for Later" in the subject line, and making sure to include the following information:
- Your name
- Your Tisch affiliation
- Your affiliation with the "Now for Later" project that you are sharing
We hope those alumni who can afford to pay now will not take advantage of this opportunity for emerging artists, and will list their opportunities through the "Employer Job Posting Form" (see Related Links). Please note that the Tisch Career Development Office reserves the right to refuse any posting deemed unacceptable.
