Founded over 40 years ago, Tisch is one of the nation's leading centers for professional training, scholarship and research in the performing and media arts. Mary Schmidt Campbell, the dean of the Tisch School of the Arts, is committed to continuing our tradition of providing an extraordinary training ground for the individual artist. So whether your goal is to be an actor, dancer, photographer, filmmaker, film scholar, video artist, dramatic writer, or set/lighting designer, Tisch provides young artists and scholars with a humanistic education, rigorous preparation in their discipline, and invaluable opportunities to pursue their artistic development.
Admission to the Tisch School of the Arts is highly selective. Admission is based on a careful evaluation of secondary school records; recommendations from guidance counselors, teachers and others; scores on standardized tests; and a creative review in the form of an audition or a portfolio. Evidence of character and maturity are regarded as essential in potential students who hope to benefit fully from the unique offerings of the University and its urban environment. Participation in meaningful school and community activities is also an important factor. The admissions committee will try to build a total picture of you, taking into account your character and potential for success.
